Superintendent
POSITION: SUPERINTENDENT
JOB CODE: 002
POSITION REPORTS TO: GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT
The superintendent and project manager shall develop a dynamic relationship co-responsible for total contract performance and profitability. The superintendent is responsible for production and the project manager is more responsible for administration, but each individual has a duty to interface his experience with the other to create a synergistic management effort.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Confirms estimator’s construction methods; propose alternate methods if opportunity exists to increase profits.
2. Confirm estimator’ s manpower and equipment resources required for performance; propose alternatives to increase efficiency.
3. Coordinated job requirements of company resources with general superintendent to insure optimum use.
4. Maintain progress of project in accordance with progress schedule to insure contract completion within the contract time regardless of other considerations.
5. Oversee and coordinate subcontractor’s work. Subcontractor to perform on schedule in accordance with subcontract.
6. Maintain positive jobsite relations with owner, subcontractors, and prime contractor.
7. Utilize cost information to identify and act on problems.
8. Supervise crew; strive for maximum production, increase efficiency – eliminate loss of effort. Monitor production and cost daily.
9. Perform within budget, review timesheets before handing in.
10. Maintain job diary. Enter in diary instructions from owner, daily activity and location, communications with subcontractors, and anything unusual.
11. Coordination with project manager – production review – activity planning – progress – compliance with contract documents.
12. Identify and document changes and extra costs. Coordinate extra billings with project manager to ensure all additional costs are captured.
13. Take all steps necessary to complete the contract in accordance with the contract provisions.
14. Notify project manager to document completion of milestones in work and final completion of work. Arrange inspections, complete punch list; sell the job to the owner’s representatives.
15. Turn in by the first of each month equipment needed for each crew for the following month.
16. Responsible for the daily checks on safety.
17. Responsible for conducting toolbox talks each week.
18. Responsible for following through with interim turnovers of job should he be assigned to another job.
19. Coordinate equipment, manpower and truck needs daily with dispatch, general superintendent and truck manager.
Dump Truck Driver
POSITION: Dump Truck Driver
JOB CODE: 002
Essential functions:
- Safely operate dump trucks to transport materials to and from job sites.
- Follow designated routes and schedules as directed by dispatch.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with company regulations.
- Communicate with dispatch and supervisor regarding any mechanical issues or delays in trips.
Requirements:
- Must have at least 2 years of experience driving a dump truck or something related.
- Valid class A or class B commercial driver’s license.
- Clean driving record and up to date DOT medical card
- Must follow all traffic laws and V-DOT regulations.

Experienced Operators
POSITION APPLIED FOR: EXPERIENCED OPERATOR
POSITION REPORTS TO: SUPERINTENDENT
The position of operator requires the individual to possess the physical and mental ability to perform the following tasks for a minimum of 8 hours per day:
1. Negotiate rough terrain.
2. Climb in and out of heavy machinery to include excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and off road trucks.
3. Stand, stoop, bend, climb, and walk.
4. Purchase, wear and maintain safety equipment as required by the type of work you are performing.
5. Assist the fuel truck when fueling the equipment to include one of the following; greasing the machine or fueling the machine.
6. Have the ability to read cut sheets.
7. Have the ability to read and understand grade stakes.
8. Take direction from the job site superintendent.
9. Fill out a white ticket on a weekly basis to identify problems with the equipment.
10. Clean the tracks after every shift.
11. Assist the lowboy driver by loading or unloading the equipment when it is to be moved.
Laborer
JOB CODE: 40, 41, 42
POSITION REPORTS TO: SUPERINTENDENT
The position of laborer requires the individual to possess the physical and mental ability to perform the following tasks for a minimum of 8 hours per day:
1. Negotiate rough terrain.
2. Climb in and out of excavations, and/or other confined or enclosed spaces.
3. Climb ladders to a height of 8 feet. Work at heights over highways and water.
4. Carry and use trade associated tools, equipment, or material up to a weight of 50 pounds.
5. Push, pull, load, and unload tools, equipment, or materials.
6. Stand, stoop, bend, climb, and walk.
7. Purchase, wear and maintain safety equipment as required by the type of work you are performing or when directed by your Supervisor or the safety department. These items must be purchased/worn immediately upon employment.
8. Know how to identify, safely operate and maintain all hand tools to include: hammers, pliers, tapes, hand saws, screwdrivers, shovels, knives, levels, wrenches, digging bars, etc…
9. Know how to identify and safely operate all fuel, air, and electric small tools to include: pipe saws, chain saws, pumps, generators, plate tampers, jumping jacks, jackhammers, rivet busters, chipping guns, rotary hammers, clay spades, vibrators, circular saws, drills, etc…
10. Know how to identify fuels (gasoline, diesel, and mixed gas) and know which fuel is used to operate each small tool and compressors.
11. Know how to identify and safely operate all general equipment to include air compressors, arrowboards, rollers, fire extinguishers, etc…
12. Know how to identify company equipment to include backhoes, loaders, trackhoes, cranes, dozers, etc…
13. Posses the ability to understand, remember, and follow work related instructions or methods.
14. Able to check trucks which includes the following:
a. sign trucks in during the morning (standing)
b. time trucks throughout the day or count loads depending on job (sit)
c. sign trucks out at the end of the day (standing)
d. total up time at the end of the day with loads
15. Able to check grade and assist the superintendent in setting stakes.
16. Able to run small equipment to include rollers, bobcats, sweepers and walk behind rollers
17. Be able to Flag Traffic.
Gradall Operator
Gradall Operator
Position Reports to: Superintendent
The Anderson Company, LLC, a site development company for over 27 years is seeking a Gradall Operator with fine grading experience. This position will be reporting to our Manassas, VA yard location and will be under the direction of a superintendent. This position must have a valid class B CDL along with a good driving record. We operate in the DC metro area
- Safely operates Gradall excavator to fine grade ditches, sidewalks, curb & gutter, and other tight construction areas.
- Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance of equipment.
- Must understand construction blue prints and fine grade work.
- Adhere to T.A.C safety practices, policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties assigned by superintendent.
- Must have at least 1-2 years of experience in a Gradall machine.
- Valid class B commercial driver’s license.
- Clean driving record and up to date DOT medical card.
- Must follow all traffic laws and V-DOT regulations.
